Google Drive ban: locked out of your own files, and what to do about it

Drive suspensions block documents, shared folders and business archives in one move. Here is how detection works, what you can recover, and how a zero-knowledge vault removes the dependency.

What a Drive ban blocks When an account is suspended, Drive access usually goes with it: documents you authored, shared folders you own, and anything collaborators reached through your links. Team members lose files they did not upload, and clients lose deliverables mid-project.

Why files stored in the clear can be enforced against Mainstream clouds hold the decryption keys for the content they host. That makes automated scanning technically possible, and once it is possible, it becomes an operational requirement — for copyright, for abuse, for legal exposure. Enforcement then applies to the whole account, not to a single file.

The two failure modes people report - **False positives**: an archive, a client's confidential document, or an unusual file type flagged by a classifier. - **Collateral suspension**: a violation elsewhere in the account — an ad account, a video, a message — takes the storage with it.

Reducing exposure before anything happens - Keep an independent copy of everything that matters, on a provider that is not part of the same identity graph. - Prefer a provider that cannot read the content: no readable content, no content-based enforcement. - Own your recovery material offline, not in the same account you are trying to protect.

How DRIVUNO changes the equation Files are sealed on the device before upload. Names, folder structure and search tags are protected with blind indexes computed locally, so even metadata is not offered up in the clear. There is no admin override and no support tool that reveals your content, so no reviewer can be pointed at your documents.

Deletion is also yours: trash retention, version history, and export in the clear from your own device whenever you want. Zero-knowledge should never mean lock-in.

A realistic setup Keep collaborating where you must, but make DRIVUNO the copy of record: Live Clone mirrors the local working folder in real time, Team Drive holds shared project files with per-member sealed keys, and public share links expire quickly by design.

One automated decision should never be able to erase your working life. Hold the keys.
