An integrated suite reads your work to make it convenient. We built the opposite trade.
Google Workspace bundles identity, mail, documents, storage, chat and meetings, and its best features — full-text search, previews, real-time co-editing, assistant capabilities — exist because the platform can read your content. DRIVUNO covers the confidential surface of that suite instead of all of it: an encrypted drive, team folders with per-member sealed keys, encrypted rooms with calls, an encrypted mailbox and short-lived external links, all under keys derived on your device.
| Feature | DRIVUNO | Google Workspace |
|---|---|---|
| Where files are encrypted | On your device, before upload | On provider servers, provider-managed keys |
| Provider can read documents and mail | No | Technically yes |
| Search | Device-side blind indexes | Server-side full-text search |
| Real-time co-editing | Limited by design | Mature |
| External sharing | Passphrase-gated, expires within 24 hours maximum | Org-managed links, long-lived by default |
| Password reset restores data | No — recovery kit required | Yes |
| Member removal | Keys rotated | Access revoked |
| Backups | Hourly encrypted snapshots to independent immutable storage | Provider-managed within the same account |
Comparison based on publicly available documentation at time of writing. DRIVUNO does not make absolute claims about competitor security; we describe architectural differences.
We compare architectural characteristics publicly documented by each vendor at the time of writing. We never call a competitor insecure — only 'not zero-knowledge by default' where that is the case.
Message payloads are sealed on the device under a room key wrapped per member. The provider relays envelopes it cannot open, so there is no admin export of content, no server-side scanning and nothing readable to disclose.
You keep channels, threads, mentions, reactions, file drops, galleries, encrypted ZIP downloads, calls and search. Search runs on blind indexes computed on your device instead of server-side plaintext indexing.
Invite members by email; keys are generated on their first login and channel keys are sealed to each member. Files can be dragged in, or mirrored continuously from a local folder with Live Clone.
